Indian railways in a move to take on
private stage carriers, has introduced a new train between Trivandrum and Tiruchirappally
(Trichy).Actually its an extension for
the currently running Tirunelvely Trichy intercity express (Train no.22628) to Trivandrum. The
train will start from Trivandrum Central station at 11.55 hrs and will reach Trichy
at 20.15 hrs and the Train from Trichy(Train
no22627) will start at 07.05 hrs and will reach Trivandrum at 15.25hrs.

Currently there
are about 10 private stage carriers buses, which are highly priced besides
driving dangerously, this new train can bring an end to this.
The train is also a blessing for velankanni pilgrims from Trivandrum, Nagercoil etc as they can get
down at Trichy and could take another bus/train to reach velankanni.
