TRIVANDRUM BATS FOR BOTH FOOTBALL AND CRICKET

On Jun 09 2017 a football match was played between current FIFA world cup runners up Argentina and 5 times world cup winners Brazil. The match was held in Melbourne CRICKET ground, the famous MCG.In MCG, both cricket and football are played regularly in addition, rugby, soccer, concerts and other major functions are also held on its natural turf.

TRIVANDRUM INTERNATIONAL STADIUM
In the whole world there are only two stadiums which are of both FIFA and ICC standard. The second is in Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala and the stadium is called Sports Hub Trivandrum. The stadium is designed and build in a way so that both football and cricket could be played without making any changes in the stadium. In addition to that many sports like rugby, baseball could be played there but those sports are not played in India. Trivandrum international stadium has the capacity of 55,000 and all the seats are fitted with bucket seats, not like the other stadium in Kerala which has only a capacity of 44,000 after the installation of plastic chair. Trivandrum Sports hub was the venue for SAFF football championship 2015-16 ,in which India becomes champions. The final match was witnessed by 44,000 spectators.

In September 2016 KCA, the governing body for cricket in Kerala signed a MoU with the Trivandrum sports hub authorities, by which KCA can use the stadium for 180 days in an year. This made the Kerala people happy, their expectations went high when they heard thay could witness international cricket matches in Trivandrum also.So the KCA started installing permanent pitches which made the ground  usable only for cricket. Whereas the famous MCG uses a technology called portable cricket pitch technology, involving a lightweight steel frame in pitch construction method and installation that makes the installation, removal and performance of the portable pitch system efficient.

On 18 July 2017, a professional football team was launched officially in Trivandrum and is expected to be part of the 2017–18 I-Leagues.The team was named Kerala Evergreen FC and it could be the first I-League. club to have majority ownership from a foreign company. Kerala Evergreen FC could be the first team from Trivandrum to play in the I-League if everything goes fine. Every one is also aware of the fact that I-League will soon merge with Indian Super League, the biggest football championship in the country as of now. AIFF has invited Tender for new clubs to be part of I-League from many cities including Trivandrum. KEFC will definitely bid for a team from Trivandrum. But another twist in the story is that KCA is now spreading  news(don’t know whether BCCI knows about it) that an international cricket match and some Renji Trophy matches will be held in Trivandrum soon, even KCA don’t know about the date.Comedy is that AIFF bid and KCA news came out on the same day. KEFC Will be based in Trivandrum only if they gets the stadium rights.otherwise they will search for options like Sports Complex in Manchery in Malappuram and Corporation stadium in Calicut.KCA’s new rumor will make the Trivandrum International stadium unusable for football. And when it becomes sure that football will not be played ,the wicked and crooked KCA members who are the big haters of Trivandrum will say sorry for the rumor and will escape smoothly, making dream of Trivandrum people to remain  in papers only....

KCA has 3 cricket stadiums of its own in trivandrum, where Renji trophy matches could be played. If the KCA body is honest, they should install Portable pitch in Trivandrum International stadium and allow both football and cricket to be played, for which the stadium is designed for, otherwise will have to watch in TV or have to go in other parts of country for watching matches....
